I have a spreadsheet with 3 columns: First Name, MI, and Last Name.

This spreadsheet contains thousands of names, many of them are repeat customers. How can I count the occurrences of each name? For example:

A B C
Michael J Smith

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
Maybe try filtering on each column for a particular name. Filter C for Smith, then follow that with a filter on A for Michael then B for initial J.

The number of rows minus one for the header would be the number of like names.

I don't think the order of the filtering is important, seems you would still get the same result if filtered in any order.

Have not tested.
