Enter Key not responsive - sometimes

I have a problem using Excel 2013 which has plagued me for a long time.

I create a user form which has a number of text boxes for input. I use the 'key down' function in order to check what character has been inputted. If the input is '13' (the 'enter' code) the program focus moves to another text box for next input.

Most of the time this works fine. Then occasionally the cursor is flashing in the text box (as normal, waiting for input), but nothing happens - it just hangs there as I keep pressing any key.

I have got round this by having a command button that I call 'free memory': clicking this gives a message that the memory is now cleared (wording put in by me). On accepting this, then going back to the text box, all works as it should. It is as though something has got 'filled', and I need to 'empty' it with my message box - sounds weird, I know.

The problem happens on my machine, and any other I install my program on, so it's not machine specific. Nor does it happen at a fixed point. One time I can run the program without any problem, next time maybe hangs up on the third, or sixth, or eighth text box.

Anybody ever had this problem, or got any idea how to fix it?

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
