Equating Data in Two Cells?

Hi,

I have a list of data in Sheet 1, and I use =(VLOOKUP($M$4,'Sheet 1'!$A$3:L1002,6,FALSE)) in Sheet 2 to call a value. I'm wondering if there is a way so that if I edit the value in sheet 2, it updates the value of the data in Sheet 1? Would I create some kind of a circular reference or use VBA?

Thanks!

Hello,

If you did this then you would lose the formula, so then if data in your sheet 1 changed, your sheet 2 data would be incorrect.

You coud always have another column next to the VLOOKUP as an over-riding value, then have another formula next to this to check if you have an overriding value then show that one otherwise show the VLOOKUP.

i.e. if your VLOOKUP is in A2 (with a result of 10), then in B2 if you enter 20, then formula in C2 would be =IF(ISBLANK(B2),A2,B2).

I suppose doing this you may be able to have the data on Sheet 1 updated, but would need to look into that.
