Why is Excel changing my date to a fraction?
Exp: I enter 1/4, it gives me 1/4 instead of Apr-2019; it ignores the date format I chose, MMM-YYYY

Excel Facts

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
Then it is text i.e. neither a fraction or a date (very strange as the cells were formatted as General and you manually typed in the cell).

Try....
Make sure that the cell in row 1 isn't blank then select the column, click Data, click Text to Columns, click Next twice and click Finish.

Nope! No difference
Think I got a work around; changed the Regional short date format from dd/MM/yyyy to dd MM yyyy. Then input in Excel I do 1"space"4, instead of 1"slash"4. No more fraction!

Personally I would never change my regional date settings because of bad data but if you are happy with it that then that is fine.

The other thing you could try is typing a 1 in a blank cell, copy it then select the problem cells, right click and click Paste Special, check the multiply option and click ok.

Finally format the cells using a date format.
