Excel file that takes long time to open

I have a file that takes significant amount of time to open. While it is opening, it causes excel to show "not responding". To counter the slowness, I have broken the links so that the file is not looking to reference other files.

There is one link that I am not able to break, which I think is the cause to the slowness.

Any thoughts on how to get get a large files to open sooner, and remove a link that is not readily breakable (for whatever reason).

Much appreciated!

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
A few ideas:

  • Are there any hidden sheets or rows/columns? If the link is to data in a hidden spot, I've ran across issues removing the link until everything was visible.
  • Look to see where the last typed cell is on each sheet (CTRL+END) If you are taken to a cell much past the last set of data, delete the rows or columns between the two points. After deleting, save and re-open the workbook. (this trick will reduce your file size)

Hope it helps. Post what your solution is for future readers.
