I want to define the selection from a list box as a variant to be used later, similar to what is done in the code below from a text box.

[FONT=&quot]mySearch = sht.Shapes("EnteredText").TextFrame.Characters.Text
[/FONT]

Can someone help me here?

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
Where is your listbox located? Let's say it's located on a userform, try...

Code:
myListBoxSelection = userform1.ListBox1.Value

If the code resides within the code module for either your sheet or userform, you can use the following instead...

Code:
myListBoxSelection = Me.ListBox1.Value

Note that the keyword Me will refer to the object in which it resides. So, if the code resides with the sheet code module, Me will refer to the Sheet object. And, if the code resides with the userform code module, it will refer to the UserForm object.

Hope this helps!
