Is there a way to find a row number on sheet "1"where a name is located from a cell on sheet 2
example JOhn is located on sheet 1 on row 20
can we find the row number where john is located and enter it in a cell on sheet 2?
Total

<colgroup><col><col span="2"><col span="4"></colgroup><tbody>
</tbody>

Excel Facts

Copy PDF to Excel
Select data in PDF. Paste to Microsoft Word. Copy from Word and paste to Excel.
How about
=MATCH("John",Sheet1!A1:A100,0)

HI Fluff,
That gave me a #n/a error.
I probably didn't explain if properly
I want the cell on sheet 2 to have "Row Number =" and them add the actual row number that John is located on.

If you get #N/A, then John does not appear on sheet1 in A1:A100

Thanks Fluff,
I didn't realize that upper lower case was important on sheet names.
Thanks again.
