How to convert 31-December-1958 into 31-Dec-2018 or 31-July-2017 into 31-Jul-2017 in excel?

Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
Format the cells to dd-mmm-yyyy
