Formula Issue

I have a formula that I'm having an issue with.

Normal Formula is
Base Cost+Total Misc +((Base Cost+Total Misc)*Mark-UP %)+Mark-Up Amount = Total Cost

So
Base Cost = 27.08 (A)
Total Misc = .76 (B)
Mark-Up % = 1.5% (C)
Mark-UP Amount= 0 (D)

27.00 + .76 = 27.76
27.76 +(27.76*1.5%)Which is .42=28.18 (T)

There cannot be Mark-up % and Mark-up Amount at same time.

now I'm trying to work backwards. If I want a Total Cost of 28.08.

Someone gave me this.

A= T/(C+1)-B-D

But this is
16.19=28.08/((2.5)-.76-0) 1.74

should have a New Base cost of 26.90
26.90 +.76+.42=28.08

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Using SUM and + is redundant and unnecessary:
Code:
[COLOR=#333333]sum(27.08+0.76)[/COLOR]
Just use one or the other like this:
(27.08+0.76)
or this:
sum(27.08,0.76)

Usually, if it just two values being added together, the first version (using +) is the more common method.

That's not what I'm trying to do.

I showed you the normal way of getting the (T)otal Cost.

What if I have the T and need to get the Base Cost.

If the formula you provided is correct:
Code:
[COLOR=#333333]A= T/(C+1)-B-D[/COLOR]
and you need to solve for B, some simple mathematical calculations to solve for B returns:
Code:
B=T/(C+1)-D-A
