I have list of items in 'Sheet1' - Column A. When I type in 'Sheet2' - Column C, I need that Items in 'Sheet1-Column A' should come as suggestions.
The user will select a item from that. The user is not allowed to type/select items other than in 'Sheet1'. How to do that?

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)

Madam,

Do the following steps-
1. sheet1 col A contains your data. Select all this data which you want to display on another sheet.
2. after selecting, go to insert - name - define. define any name there.
3. if you want to see the name you define for this region, you can see the formula bar, there one symbol is there like fx.
beside that left side (where cell names are shown), click that drop down list, you can see that name define.
4. now next step. go to your another sheet where you want to display this data.
5. select (as per you mentioned) c1 cell, go to Data - validation.
6. One window will pop up.
7. In that you can see the first option, Allow: - select here "List" option.
8. And in Source: - (type here the name you define in sheet1 for selected data.). and click ok.
9. go to that cell c1, exactly side you can list option.
