I have a spreadsheet that is full of credit card application dates. Chase has a rule where it will automatically decline a credit card application if you have received more than 5 credit cards, from any institution, in the last 24 months.

With that said, I want to do a formula to figure the date at which it is safe to apply for a new credit card at Chase.

FYI, I do it for the points.

So basically I need it to look at all the dates, figure if I have more than 5 within the last 24 months, and then give me a date, 25 months, (giving me one month cushion), from the fifth oldest date in the that group of 5 or more. If it is less than 5 in the past 24 months, give today's date.

Make sense?

I have not been able to figure this one out.

Excel Facts

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
If I am reading this right maybe something like the below will give you 25 months from the 5 oldest date (just about to eat so haven't added in the if statement)?

Thanks very much for you help. Was not familiar with EDATE and total forgot about LARGE.

Could not get your last one to work but think this will work for me

=IF(LARGE($A$21:$A$30,5)>EDATE(TODAY(),-25),EDATE(LARGE(A21:A30,5),25),TODAY())

I really don't get why my brain does not want to compute this easy concept but this helps.

The formula in your last post doesn't count if there are less than 5 in the last 24 months.
