I have a list of names and I want to highlight the names that are used more than twice. I know conditional formatting will find duplicates, but I need the ones that or used more than twice.

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
tibgto,

Maybe like....
Excel Workbook
A
1Names
2Tom
3Fred
4Tom
5Sid
6Bill
7Tom
8Charlie
9Sid
10Bill
11Sid
12Frank
13Charlie
14Frank
15
Sheet1
Cells with Conditional Formatting
CellConditionCell FormatStop If True
A21. / Formula is =COUNTIF(A:A,A1)>2Abc

Hope that helps,
