I've got two sheets in my workbook. One is a list of all employees on a project, the other is a list of employees currently leave. I need a function that looks in the "Employee ID" column of the employees on vacation, and if matched, returns a value in another column indicating their status (e.g. "On Vacation" "Business Trip" "Available").

So if John Doe, Emp ID 1234 is on vacation, that status appears in the Employee Directory tab.

I've checked other threads on this forum but either I'm not using the solutions correctly in my scenario or I haven't found the right answer yet. Any help would be appreciated!

Excel Facts

Quick Sum
Select a range of cells. The total appears in bottom right of Excel screen. Right-click total to add Max, Min, Count, Average.
Maybe try this:

=IFERROR(INDEX(Sheet1!$B$2:$B$10,MATCH($A2,Sheet1!$A$2:$A$10,0)),"")

ID numbers in columns A on both sheets. Column B has the status.
