Hello,

I am having a complete blank and need some help with a line graph. My original reason for posting was to find out if it is possible to have a line graph that recognises new data and auto updates.
However, I am having problems simply making the line graph. For some reason, after i set the vertical axis to a number, the plot lines have disappeared. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

I have added the sheet with the data via XL2BB, but cannot seem to add the graph, so i have copied and pasted below.

Thanks in advance.

Since you've already got linking formulas on the chart sheet, all you really need is to work out the last actual row of data, which you can do with a formula like:

=match(max(A:A),A:A,0)

so if you define that as name called lastrow, then you can define names for each of the three series of data using formula like:
=$A$2:INDEX($A:$A,lastrow)
and use those names as the chart series data sources.

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
Hi Rory, apologies for not getting back to you, and thank you for the information. I have had a go at this, but to no avail. I am most definitely doing something wrong. I have private messaged you a copy, if you could have a look when you have time that would be great.
Thank you.

You didn't appear to have implemented any changes in the file you sent me, so I've amended it per my description above and sent it back.

If you put the data into a Table (Ctrl+T or Format as Table or Insert Table), when you add data, the Table automatically expands, and any formulas that link to the Table will adjust to the new Table size. This includes a chart's SERIES formula. See my ancient tutorial for details: Easy Dynamic Charts Using Lists or Tables.
