Macro Buttons on Toolbar 2007

I have macros buttons on the 2007 toolbar that sometimes don't work. I know it's because sometimes I'm opening a 2003 file that someone has sent me or sometimes I'm opening a 2007 file that someone sent me or I've created. How can I get the toolbar button to use the macro from either personal workbook, xlsb or xls? The macros run fine if I use the drop down box and click on the one i want.
