Hi all!

I am currently working on an Excel file that could be considered a work of art. I am sure we have all found ourselves in a position where you look at your work and say, "Hey!, who said these spreadsheets can't be fashionable!?"

Having said that, I would like to create a visual effect within the excel document. I would like to let each section of the sheet, let's say 'Sales', 'Expenses', and 'VC Investment', stand out a little more broadly.

Currently I have the different sections sectioned off using varying borders. The outside borders of these sections all use the thick black line that we all have come to love . THICK.

So here comes the details of what I am looking to do, I would like to make all the cells outside of my thick black bordered boxes a color other than white. I would like them to be a nondescript grey and I would love to disable the cell gridlines in these 'badlands' sections. I would love to keep the gridlines in the sections that matter (sales, expenses, vc investment).

Anyone up to the challenge of the border baby?

Thanks much for viewing and I hope everyone is having a wonderful, fun, and above all PRODUCTIVE Tuesday. Be well,

Jords

Best way to learn Power Query?
Read M is for (Data) Monkey book by Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar. It is the complete guide to Power Query.
  • Select all the cells on the sheet (click on the nondescript box to the left of column A and above row 1)
  • Select a light grey background color
  • This will color all cells grey and hide the gridlines.
  • Now select your sections and change the background and boarders to anything you want.
