Hello experts, I am having issue with a scatter plot graph that I am trying to make in excel. I am comparing woodpecker holes to the elevation at which they were found at. I was told by my instructor to place the holes on the y axis and the elevation on the x axis. However, in doing so I am getting a weird graph that I cannot understand....

I am not understanding why the values on the x-axis are showing up the way that they are considering that I have no data that has anything to do with the data values given for the x-axis...

Below is the data:

Any help or direction would be appreciated...

I would just like to understand why the values are showing up the way that they are and HOW I can correct it so that the x-axis values reflect the data...

Thank you!
P.S. Using Excel 2011 for MAC

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
The image you tried to post doesn't show up. You would improve your chances of getting some help by elaborating on exactly how the values are appearing on your graph.

I'm sorry if it is not showing up.... obviously I am new to this forum and the only way to attach an image is to get a url not a direct upload via computer...

First off, the data is “dirty.” There are spaces in some of the values that must be removed. Maybe they are an artifact of pasting into the question, but they must be removed before you attempt to make your chart. Once I cleaned up the data, all I did was to click the Charts tab of the Ribbon and chose the Marked Scatter chart to make my chart. It looks OK to me.
