Plotting of Empty Cells (No values/No Formula)

So I created a calculations formula (data oriented in columns) and drag filled formula across multiple columns. Then I Selected row with formula results, copied and paste special (values and formatting only) into row below. When I Scatterplot (no connecting line) the pasted values all empty cells are plotted as zeroes even though I opted for Gaps for Zeroes in the chart option. When I go back to empty cells in "pasted" row and try to evaluate formula as a check, Excel states that there is No Formula and there is obviously no value (number, text or special character) in the cell. When I Go To Special>blank it selects all blank cells on sheet except the blank cells in the "pasted" row. The only way to make zero points on my graph go away is to manually select each and ever empty cell in "pasted" row and hit Delete. Any ideas on work arounds to this problem?

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
