Problems with saving as .xlsm

Hi All,

Using: Office 2007

I have taken on a design spreadsheet from a colleague which is in .xls format. I want to produce MS word docs using data taken direct from the spreadsheet and so I have written VBA/Macro in word to do this. However, the excel doc will not save as a .xlsm spreadsheet. The only save option I have is .xls when there are usually like 15 different options.

The macro however still worked and I managed to get the data through from excel. But... when I came back to open the excel doc a day later, it would open just a blank excel doc. The document was there somewhere (as when I closed excel it asked me did I want to save it,) but it was invisible and all of excel was greyed out.

I have tried simply changing the extension in windows explorer to .xlsm but when I try to open it I get 'Excel cannot open the file 'JOEBLOGGS.xlsm' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file'

Any help would be massively appreciated! If I can make anything clearer please let me know.

Thanks, Joe
