Reading foreign text in VBA

Hi,
I have foreign (non-English) characters in a cell which I was reading using Sheets("data").Cells(1,1).Formula
However this returned nothing but questions marks instead of the text:e.g. ζχψωβνιθςεβφ[ςε turns into "????ί????eίf[?e"

After research I discovered I needed to set the regional settings to the foreign country and needed to use FormulaLocal: Sheets("data").Cells(1,1).FormulaLocal

Now however I'm only getting some of the foreign characters - others are appearing as question marks. e.g "?χψω???εβφ?e"

Any idea how to proceed? Thanks.

Excel Facts

Copy a format multiple times
Select a formatted range. Double-click the Format Painter (left side of Home tab). You can paste formatting multiple times. Esc to stop
Have you tried using Text instead of Formula?

Why are you using Formula in the first place?:)

Sheets("data").Cells(1,1).Text gives the same problem.

using Formula because FormulaLocal is the only thing I've found that has been suggested to be able to read foreign characters using VBA.

If you have another alternative to Formula, believe me I'm all ears! :)
