Hi

I've downloaded data from a database

There's a whole bunch of question marks in the data examples "XX????", "XAT??????", "??XXADA?"...

In other words there's no consistency in the number of question marks, or where the question marks appear.

They can't be removed by using the replace or substitute functions

How can I remove them as they exist in the data in the database?

Thanks

Andy

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
If you use Find/Replace, just trying to replace the "?" with nothing removes everything (as it treats it as a Wild Card).
But if you want it to explicitly remove/replace just the literal question marks, just type a tilde in front of the question mark in the Find box, i.e.
~?
