I have a column of dates stored as text in this format:

dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm

When I try to sort them in newest date order it doesn't work and the dates are all over the place - is there a way around it?

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.

select them then do TEXT TO COLUMNS , click NEXT twice then on the last tab choose DATE and the format DMY and click finish. They will now be dates that you can sort as usual
