Is it possible to create a macro to transfer a xlsx worksheet to a xls workbook. (Possibly by using VBA code).

Excel Facts

Copy PDF to Excel
Select data in PDF. Paste to Microsoft Word. Copy from Word and paste to Excel.
I did a quick record of the actions - it should do as a starter for you:

Code:
    Sheets("Sheet2").Select
    Sheets("Sheet2").Copy
    ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:="C:\development\Book3.xls", FileFormat:= _
        xlExcel8, Password:="", WriteResPassword:="", ReadOnlyRecommended:=False _
        , CreateBackup:=False

If you want to move/copy a sheet from an xlsx file to an existing xls file, then it can't be done.
Either save the sheet as a new workbook & then copy it to the existing file, or copy and paste the usedrange
