why doesn't vba have a min/max function?

Have you seen what MARK858 said in post#9?

Does anyone know why the worksheet function: dd = WorksheetFunction.mod(45, 10)

does not work?

VBA already has a Mod operator, so there is no WorksheetFunction equivalent. Note though that VBA Mod and the MOD function don't work the same way with negative numbers.

It is an operator, not a function, so the syntax is:

Code:
GRADE = 45 MOD 10

Never mind!

GRADE = 45 mod 10 works
If you wanted to use the worksheet's MOD function (as Rory pointed out, it works differently than VB's Mod operator), you could do so via the Evaluate function...

dd = Evaluate("MOD(45,10)")

Note that since the argument to the Evaluate function is a text string, you can concatenate text constants and variables together in order to make the call to the MOD function more dynamic. For example,

Number = 45
Divisor = 10
dd = Evaluate("MOD(" & Number & "," & Divisor & ")")
