why my macro is stopping frequently

i am using 2010 version 64 bit
My macro was worked properly
Recently i change my excel version to 2016.my macro was stopped at here

Application.screenupdating=False

so that i have removed this code and added again then it is working,is it necessary to do it evreytime?
i tried in 2013 also same situation happen..

any suggestion for alternative?
