I have a big Excel file over 20 Megabytes. I also have macros, formulas, activeX controls, shapes etc. in pretty well on all 15 worksheets. On one of my worksheets, If I want to hide only one row, it takes 10 to 15 seconds to hide and I can't figure out why. What could be the possible causes??

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
does the workbook have lots of formulas referencing external data?
does the laptop have a cat5 cable connected AND wireless networking on? (my user did this and it was slllooooooowwww)

you can try turning off AUTOCALC, (in options: workbook calculations = manual)

but even so , hiding 1 row should not take any time.

Thanks. There is no ref to external data and it is not wireless. I will try turning on Manual calculations and see if that works.
