Weird paste issue

I have started to see a weird paste issue with Excel (I have Office 365).

There is a block of text in CSV format in Notepad++, such as:

apples,oranges,cherries,bananas,grapes

When I paste it into Excel, it gets turned into rows automatically:

apples
oranges
cherries
bananas
grapes

This happens even if I right-click and pick "Paste as Values". Somehow Excel thinks I want to convert the CSV text into rows - but I just want it pasted into the cell as is.

I'm not sure where to look to fix this, it's annoying. Any ideas?

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Wild guess: what if you use semicolon instead of comma.

Thanks for the suggestion. It turns out to have been a mysterious Windows 10 issue - rebooting the computer made it go away. No idea if it's fixed or if it will come back, but it's gone for now.
