Is there a way to have “accented” columns in an Excel table?

I have a column in an Excel table that I want to draw the user’s attention to. I know I can select the column and change the Fill color, but that’s only one solid color, I would prefer alternating colors like normal Excel table formatting. Any ideas?

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
You could use conditional formatting with a formula rule like =MOD(ROW(),2)=1 to apply formatting to every other row.
