Formulas display as text string

I am having trouble getting a formula to display the results. Instead the formula shows up in the cell, but it won't evaluate the results. If I enter it on the formula bar, it displays the result correctly in the formula box, but it still shows the formula as a text string in the cell. I've seen this before, but don't know why it occurs.

The cell may have a text format. If it does change
it and then re-edit the cell.

You can re-edit each cell by using Edit>Replace: = with =
