Preperly Apostrophised?

Posted by Andy Gee on January 11, 2002 6:37 AM

I have a formula =PROPER(A2) in A1 and A2 contains the text "I'm trying" But the resilt is I'M Trying. I would like it to read "I'm Trying".

Note. The Apostrophy can be in any location except the first and list character.

Andy help would be a dream!

Andy --

I think you've discovered a "bug", which is hard to cope with a general algorithm for PROPER'ing.

Try the following workaround:

=SUBSTITUTE(PROPER(SUBSTITUTE(A2,"'","aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa")),"aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa","'")
