VLOOKUP- Can it look up an Access table?

I have a workbook, which calculates material based on two factors:
Automatically calculated material based on a QTY entered in a "Task" field
and Manually entered materials.

My final result is a "Material Request Form" with descriptions based on various VLOOKUP(s),
here is my dilemma: this program is way too big. The "Material" table alone
is approx. 9MB (over 31,000 rows). Please help, if there is a way to create static
tables in access and have excel reference them when it needs to.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you all,
EJG

Have you tried using Access instead? You can create input forms (screen forms) and printed forms (reports) in Access. The reason I mention using Access is that the VLOOKUP function will still take a long time to calculate regardless of where the information resides, it's still looking at 31,000 rows. I have some familiarity with Access if you interested.
