Workbook appears damaged after conversion

One of the ladies in my office was using an older version of Excel and after converting the workbook to Excel 2000, the book appears to be damaged. Rows A-X are missing and some the worksheets appear gray and unuseable.
Anyone see anything like this before? How can I help her fix it?

I'm not familiar with the issue, but what happens if she saves it back down to the
original format?
