Pivot Tables & Sub-totals?

Posted by Jason on January 17, 2002 12:33 PM

I am trying to accomplish several steps and need some help, please.

If you will look at my example, I am trying to hide the numbers in cells E6:E9, and then replace E9, or maybe E10, with a total of those cells I have hidden. How can I do this??

Also, how can I hide colunm F?

Thank you,
Jason

Jason,

It looks like you have the "Amount" data as a Row field. That needs to be in the pivot table Data field. Then you can subtotal based on one (or more) of your Row fields. To get to where you can specify subtotaling, double click the field name "tile" (the thing you drag around to construct the pivot table) and the Field dialog box will come up. Its also possible that you have it in both places (Row and Data) and in the data its using the Count function. You only want the Amount "tile" in the Data field.

Totals for rows and columns are enabled or disabled in the Options area of the pivot table (accessible directly via the right click menu in the pivot table or, once you're in the pivot table wizard, via a button).

Yoy might also want to read through the Excel Help on pivot tables.
