Sorting Protected rows

Can anyone tell me how to sort rows or use autofilter on a worksheet that has protection activated. I need to prevent data in a column from being deleted while allowing data to be added to other columns, and for users to sort or filter the data.

Create a macro that removes the protection, does what you want to do, then re-places the protection.
