Excel 2000 - Slow When Executing VBA Codes

Posted by Liao on December 10, 2001 11:37 PM

I am using Excel 2000. My VBA codes seem to run slower than normal. E.g. when Select method is executed. I have disabled display page break option, but it didn't solve the problem. Please help.

Do you have ScreenUpdating turned false ? are you selecting, activating cells ? are you doing long loops ? are you setting PageSetup for something ? can you post some of your trouble code here ?

After analysis the problem further, it seems that if any Excel add-in is loaded the VBA will run slower. I have tried to reinstall Excel but it didn't help. Any idea what is going on.

I use XL97 and XL2000 and have had no problems with addins, are you using in your macro formulas or procedures that come from the AddIn ?

Maybe it's just your machine ?

No, I do not use macro procedures from the Addin. In fact, the VBA was running fine previously. I started having the problem after Excel crashed a few times couple of days ago. Is there a way to completely uninstall Excel? I believe there must be one or two Excel startup switches that causes this problem.
