Can anyone offer any insight as to why a cell with 2:41:00 PM in it, doesn't match another cell with 2:41:00 PM in it? I've checked these items:

  • Formatting is exactly the same (hh:mm)
  • Length is exactly the same

To further confuse matters, other instances where the same check is performed, work properly.

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
Try formatting the cells as general and then increasing the no of decimal places.

Also, check that both cells actually have numeric values.

When I change the formatting to general, one cell has .61180555555555 while the other cell has .61180555555556. I have no idea why there's a difference, since both values are sourced from the same place.

I've no idea either, but I experience this on a daily basis:)

What we normally do, and it's not ideal, is use ROUND.

What are you doing with these values?

They're sourced from email exports, to create a workload assignment tracker. The time stamp that the email was received, is leveraged to identify if that particular email was already assigned out. It's further complicated by having to add or subtract an hour(s) based on who pulled the original source report.

How are you exporting from the emails?
