Adding time in hours to get new date

Hi, i need help with the following:

i have date and time in one cell, and i have the number of hours for an activity in another cell. I want to add the hours in a third cell, with changing date.

for example, in cell A1, i have 09/14/2010 1:30 P.M.

cell A2 = 25 hours [ this is the hours for the activity ]

i cannot get the date to change over, when adding the hours in the third cell, A3

i want it to work for x hours, which could be greater than 48. hence i need a flexible working program.

Kinda Advise.

If A2 just has a number, 25, then try this formula in A3

=A1+A2/24

If you format A3 to show date and time you should get 09/15/2010 2:30 P.M

i've tried it, the number 25 has been formatted as general, and the two cells for date and time, have been formatted as mm/dd/yy h/mm am/pm

but it's not working

A1 should house:

9/14/2010 1:30:00 PM

which is a number, not:

09/14/2010 1:30 P.M.
