Howdy Everyone

So I am really scratching my head here, I have tried everything and just cannot get it right

I have two large lists List1 and List2,

can I compare a column in each list and if there is a match it should display a column from within list two?

Thank you in advance

Hi there

and thank you, pleased to be here

I am really not clued up with formulas. Below are my two lists, what I want to achieve is list 2 must be compared to list 1 by company name if there is a match it should copy to number to list 1

here are my two snapshots of lists

List 1
3D Industrial Sales & Service, Inc.JimPellegrinoUS
A 1 Pumps & Motors, Ltd.RonDu PlessisNew Zealand
A&A Electric Motor Repair, Inc.CarlUnrueUS
A&A Electric Motor Repair, Inc.CarlUnrueUS
A&A Electric Motors & Pumps Sales & Service, Inc.AndyMarajUS

<colgroup><col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:14506;width:306pt" width="408"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:2787;width:59pt" width="78"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:3555;width:75pt" width="100"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:4579;width:97pt" width="129"> </colgroup><tbody>
</tbody>

List 2
3D Industrial Sales & Service, Inc.516-876-2600
A 1 Pumps & Motors, Ltd.64-9-2639913
A&A Electric Motor Repair, Inc.803-648-0159
A&A Electric Motors & Pumps Sales & Service, Inc.407-843-5005
A&B Electric Co., Inc.808-682-4024
A&C Electric Co.586-469-0710

<colgroup><col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:14506;width:306pt" width="408"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:7168;width:151pt" width="202"> </colgroup><tbody>
</tbody>

Hope this makes sense

Since the column you are matching on is the first column in each list, the VLOOKUP option should work very well here.

Take a look at the VLOOKUP article I linked to in my previous post. It gives you a detailed explanation and walks you through examples.
If you cannot get it to work, post the formula that you came up with here, and we will help you fix it up.
