Couldn't Find/Need Help with Macro to create Inventory Totals

New Member
I apologize if this is posted somewhere else already, I tried searching but not sure how to describe this function so unsure how to search.

I have a spreadsheet for my restaurant's liquor inventory that i was to use to compile the data and turn in for month end inventory.

Column A is the spirit, so vodka, gin, etc. I want all similar column A spirits to be compiled so I can get a total for each spirit on hand. I want all output on the same sheet, not different sheets.

Column D is price, I want price multiplied by on hand which is Column F. I would like all the other column info not mentioned included in the results.

Is it possible that I can have each section total by column A and then a total for all inventory.

There are no spaces in between data on the rows until the end.

Again, I apologize if this is somewhere else, but I didn't know how to search for this.

Are there any websites or books that can help me learn how to program and write my own code instead of asking for help all the time?

thanks,

Russell McGuire

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.

this is what i'm looking at.

 Spirit Vendor Item Price Par On Hand VODKA SWS Absolut \$A 2.5 VODKA SWS Absolut Hibiscus \$b .5 VODKA SWS Belvedere Vodka \$c 1.7

<colgroup><col span="2"><col><col span="3"></colgroup><tbody>
</tbody>

and i am looking for something that uses a macro to output to different page:

 Spirit Vendor Item Price Par On Hand VODKA SWS Absolut \$A 2.5 VODKA SWS Absolut Hibiscus \$b .5 VODKA SWS Belvedere Vodka \$c 1.7

<colgroup><col span="2"><col><col span="3"></colgroup><tbody>
</tbody>

listed rows in order, but finishes with a function that performs price*on hand {vodka totals=sum((d2*f2)+(e3*f3)+(e4*f4))
same for rum, bourbon, scotch, etc.
column a has all the tags for the individual sections i need totalled.
then i need a grand total that sums up all the individual totals.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

russell

and i will check out the resources that were given. thanks!
