need assistance on a formula to calculate total tally on value "1" in column "B:B" (for example) if column A:A (Date) falls within a specific date range.

I have found a formula to calculate the total sum of column "B:B" however cant find a way to restrict the formula to only calculate based on a specific value.

=SUMIFS(B:B,A:A,">="&C3,Successful!B:B,"<="&D3)

C3=Start date range
D3=End date range

Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
Substitute COUNTIFS for SUMIFS...

=COUNTIFS(Successful!A:A,">="&C3,Successful!B:B,"<="&D3,Successful!B:B,E3)

This counts the occurrences of E3 in column B when the dates in column A are between C3 and D3.

Thanks this is great however for some reason is not calculating the total matches within the date range (it is giving me the total count of "1" in column "B")?

=COUNTIFS(A:A,">="&C3,B:B,"<="&D3,B:B,"1")

For example in column "B" I have the values "1","2","3","4","5",....

The value "1" from 2018-01-01 to 2018-01-31 only appears twice (so I'm looking for a formula to return 2)

If column A is your date column, column B must equal to 1, C3 =
2018-01-01, and D3 =
2018-01-31, then:

=COUNTIFS(A:A,">="&C3,A:A,"<="&D3,B:B,1)
