Date format

Dear Experts,

I have a last three months data from 01/11/2017 till 31/01/2018 in which all dates are mentioned like mmm/dd/yy but my default format is dd/mmm/yy.
Some dates are showing date format 1/nov/17 and some dates are 13/jan/17.

Can any body confirm how to get all dates proper.

Are the dates in the data stored as text or as numbers
