Hi,

I use Excel 2010.

I ran into a strange problem. When I start with a new empty worksheet and enter the following number 1.0272 into an empty cell with no conditional formatting or weird cell properties Excel convert the number to 10.272 In the formulae bar the number is displayed as 10272

If I enter in the same cell the number 0.272 it stays 0.272 just what you expect and the formulae bar displays 0.272. Normal situation.

I think it's a formatting problem but I can't find the solution.

Is there someone who has a solution.

TIA, Peter.

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
I can't replicate this exactly.
But I get something close - when I input 1,0272 it enters it as 10,272.
Which makes me think of a possible explanation.
Are you in a country where the "." character is used as the thousands separator character ?
Of if you're not actually in such a country, does Excel think you are ?
There are various ways to change this.

Thanks for putting me on the right track.

I had to use the seperators as defined by the system.

Problem solved :)

Peter.
