Hi,

My Excel has been updated to a newer version recently and some files are now showing up with a blank icon. These files were previously opened through excel and i was able to work with the documents. I have been through the open with which leads me to a window with the following name "Choose the program you want to use to open this file". Excel doesn't appear on this window so I hit browse and this leads me to a window which searches the whole computer which is where i become stuck.

Basically I'm trying to make the unrecognized file to allow excel to become the default program.

Can you help please.

Thanks you.

Regards

Dermot.

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
The install location of Excel can be changed but buy default it will go into, assuming you are using Windows, Program files. You can do a search for excel.exe to find where it is so you know where to go to select it. There should also be a check box to always use this program to open this file in the choose the program window.
