Hi all,

As always thank you in advance for any help!

What I would like to do is:

Loop through each row in column G using the ref number

if column h of the same row isn't blank do nothing

otherwise check column c of the same row and if that isn't blank copy and paste that value in the same row of where the blank is in column H
otherwise mark column H of the same row as 'no ref' if both H & C are blank?
Hope that makes sense to someone!

Thank you

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
Code:
Sub FillBlanks()
Dim rng As Range
Set rng = Range("H1:H" & Cells(Rows.Count, "G").End(xlUp).Row)
rng.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeBlanks).Formula = "=IF(C1="""",""no ref"",C1)"
rng = rng.Value
End Sub
