Formula for a cell

Hi,

I need a formula that can read one cell and determine if it should do anything with that cell.

For example

I have cell M2 that is either blank or has data in it. So if M2 is blank, I want it to do nothing with the rest of the cells in that column. However, if it has data in that cell, I want it to go through the row, and where there isn't data (just blank cells) I want it to put a 0. Is there an easy way to do this? I appreciate any help. My sheet is about 28,000 rows long as well.

Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.

I am not completely sure of your need, but you might want to consider using the 'IF' function in your spreadsheet. For instance, you could put in, say, cell P1:

= IF($M$2="","",sum(P1:P100))

What this does is if cell M2 is blank ("") then make cell P1 blank (""), else if M2 is not blank, sum cells P1 thru P100 and place that result in cell P1.

Take care,

Owen
