How do I wire a checkbox event to VBA code that updates a cell?

I have a checkbox on each row of my spreadsheet.

How do I code a VBA module (?) that runs each time the check or uncheck event fires, and updates a cell on that row?

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
What type of checkboxes are they?

If they are Forms checkboxes you can assign the macro to each one.

Within the code of that macro you can use Application.Caller to determine which checkbox was clicked and take the appropriate action.
