Hello!

How do I expand a selection of multiple columns so that they expand by a specific length that I drag the border at?

This is ancient annoyance and I don't know how to fix it!

Thanks!

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
Hi,

select a few columns, hold shift and then drag with the mouse?

You hold Ctrl for selecting your columns if they are not adjacent for the selecting, you don't need to hold Shift or Ctrl for the actual dragging (using the line between the column letters).

Actually I might have miss-read the question and assumed the OP meant the width. If it is the length then as Waimea stated then of course you do need to hold Shift. :(
