Hi, I have set up various ranges only to be edited by authorised people by adding them to the security within the permissions area. However, When I now click on one of these areas to change and press enter, the cursor (cell surround) jumps and lands on a cell that has no range protection. Does anyone understand why this happens and how to stop it?

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.

It sounds like when you went to apply a password that you "unchecked" the first box of restrictions;

" Select locked cells "

By default that choice is checked.
If you uncheck it, then they will not be able to choose any cells that are locked/protected, only the unprotected cells.

Hi, thanks for your time and reply. I have already checked that and they are ticked. Both are ticked, select locked and unlocked cells.
