Onedrive to desktop

Hi-

I am trying to auto update data inputs from OneDrive excel online to my desktop.

Essentially- I operate a model on my desktop that has historically used manually inputed data on a per project basis.

I am now in need of a way to pull the data from an online source automatically as the inputs are constantly changing.

Previously this was done by copy+paste but have encountered issues when doing so from the excel online into desktop and want a cleaner solution.

My options are pretty limited as to what I can use- smartsheet and onedrive (no google apps). I had problems when linking smartsheet and excel when exporting columns containing both text and numerical data. Now trying to see if I can do so easily with OneDrive.

I used the suggestion in this post but the solution is not very clean. Any other ideas for how I can do this?

I tried using this solution but I have to ping the referenced document (manually or by macro) to get it to update.
