Hi:

I have a sheet with drop-down box which drives other calculations on that sheet. When I protect the sheet and then select from the box, the formulae don't update and get message 'The cell or chart you are trying to update is on a protected sheet..........".

How can I protect a sheet but allow these cells to calculate?

Thanks

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
The formulas will calculate no matter what. You get this message when you try to change a cell's value or contents.

The problem probably comes from a changing the value of the cell, linked to the dropdown box. Unprotect this linked cell and the message will not appear (unless you have some code that does something else in the background).
